The USDA Food Pyramid in Plate Form R...

The USDA has created a new “food pyramid” that is plate shaped.  In my opinion, the plate is a better option than the pyramid because everyone can relate to the plate.  They have a website called ChooseMyPlate.gov that provides a visual graphic of the new food suggestions along with some very useful information. Of the many links on the website, one that is particularly useful to individuals is the Daily Food Plan link.  Each individual can go to that page and add their personal information.  It will even tell you if your are above the healthy range for...

Recently we received a list of suggested Third Party Certifications for food products from a customer.  When I read this list, I thought of how much money all the certifications would cost and how much that would affect the cost of the final product to the consumer.  It has been our experience that each certification costs thousands of dollars annually to obtain. I wondered about what Third Party Certifications consumers really want — what certifications would make them feel good about buying a product for their personal use.   Below is a list of the suggested...

An article from MayoClinic.com provides some valuable information in the post “Sodium:  Are you getting too Much”.  The article discusses how much sodium your body needs,...
